We LOVED this for our morning time! ?
Morning is such a special time of day. Our family had the wonderful opportunity to spend our mornings
learning about Shakespeare, Sir William Nicholson, listening to pieces of music, singing hymns, and
much more. I couldn’t believe how much we were able to learn in our morning time.
Anthropomorphism means to give human traits and attributes to animals or non-human objects.
As a mom and teacher, I have known children relate to animals with human traits but never knew anthropomorphism assisted learning in such an amazing way. Anthropomorphic motifs have are common in fairy tales. Fairy tales teach profound
lessons using Anthrompmorphism. The frightening big bad wolf in “Little Red Riding Hood” was
disguised as the sick grandmother that was sick and needed a visit. Through this fairy tale, children to
never trust strangers. Fairy tales invite children to begin that very important trait of discernment.
As a homeschool mom, I enjoyed the variety of age levels the Anthropomorphism morning time
provided. The age ranges in my home are a two-year-old to a fifteen-year-old. All ages were
entertained and learning at the same time.
Our typical morning time lasted less than an hour, in that time we learned about artists, listened to
music, made a handicraft, had a special teatime brunch, listened to books
How I incorporated the Anthropomorphism into our homeschool life
I would describe our homeschool as Classical for my older students and Charlotte Mason’s methods for
the younger students. In both philosophies of education, this morning time guide aligned well with our
areas of study.
My older students read, “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe”, Watership Down ( A WONDERFUL
read for my Sophomore student) and “Animal Farm”.
To my younger children, I read, “ Charlotte’s Web”, “The Adventures of Reddy Fox”, “Frog and Toad”,
and “Velveteen Rabbit”. My kindergartner loved Velveteen Rabbit. He connected to the story in a way
I’ve never seen him connect before. Charlotte Mason taught that children are educated by what they
love. When I see my children connect with literature, music, compositions, and art I know they are
experiencing true education.
It is important to me that my children learn to use their hands and practice handicrafts. The fox
template included in this guide is so easy and cute. We started our fox after teatime and completed it in
one afternoon.
The copywork includes larger print for younger children and cursive. We worked through the copywork
in one week and enjoyed the story of “Granny Shows Reddy a Trick”. We loved the Anthromophism morning time. My children connected with each story enjoyed the routine “morning time” put into our day, made my life easier with an open and go plan, and gave us all wonderful memories! Highly Recommend!
