Craftsy for Homeschoolers
Are you familiar with Craftsy? It is a fantastic website that offers all kinds of art classes. Cooking, fine art, photography, sewing, and more are all offered through streaming online workshops. There are lots of free classes to get started and new classes are added all the time. It is a wonderful and affordable way to encourage your homeschoolers (or you!) to try something new! I’ve taken a couple of sewing classes on Craftsy, but recently decided that I’d like to try mixed media with ink and watercolor. I’ve only gotten through the first few lessons, but I’m really enjoying the class. You can see how I set up my photo, class viewing and work space (during nap time). And my still in progress still-life. This class is so easy to follow and the teacher is very personable and very thorough. I like being able to go to class in my yoga pants, too 😉 It does take longer chasing Mr. T and Mr. F than if I were a middle or high school homeschooler who could set aside a couple of days a week for going through the class quickly. I will definitely be using these affordable and fun classes to build hobbies, entrepreneurial adventures, and portfolios for the boys beginning in late elementary/early middle grades. There’s a cake decorating class I’d like to take at some point, and a French cooking class, too. I also think us moms should learn new things alongside our students. That’s why I’m hoping that when you register and look through the classes, you don’t just look through the eyes of a mom, but that you look with the eyes of a student also.
Craftsy is offering a giveaway to one of you!
All you need to do is go here and register . The dates this giveaway is running are Friday March 28 – Thursday April 3rd, 2014. There’s no catch, no strings, and no fees. You just set up a Craftsy account and browse. I’d try a free class first. And check out the communities! The professors and other students are a great additional resource. This is probably my favorite thing about my iPad right now (Yes, there’s an app!). Go register, then come and tell me what class you decided to take!
Painting flowers with acrylic. I’ve never used acrylic as a medium. Excited!
The Fast Track Fitting class looks really cool. I’m also eyeing the pattern drafting classes.
I love craftsy, there’s a Tunisian crochet class i’ve had my eye on
Looks neat, I’m going to try one of the bag making classes!
I’ve never heard of that site! It looks like there are lots of really great classes. I recently got my first DSLR, so I think I’d choose a photography class! The Family Photography: Candid Moments & Storytelling looks really good.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!
xoxo
