Building a Preschool Unit Day 2: Finding and Selecting Your Resources
[maxbutton id=”1″]
Today we are covering some of the resources we like to use for our unit studies. There are a lot of great resources online and several of them are free. When you build your own unit, the sky is the limit, especially when you incorporate a preschooler’s imagination!
Online Resources for Building a Preschool Unit
Since I am building our Human Body unit I will link to those resources so you can get a good idea of what is available once you pick a theme for your preschool unit.
Homeschool Share – A great website full of free units and materials for a multitude of subjects. I use this site a lot, even though I rarely use the entire unit. I pick the pages from the PDF and just print the ones I want to use. Easy peasy!
Pinterest – I build a board whenever I get an idea for a new unit study that I don’t plan on buying prepackaged from somewhere like A Journey Through Learning or Notebooking Fairy. I collect ideas I see when I do a Google search there as well as doing a Pinterest search. You can find so many great (and the occasional not so great) resources and ideas for printables, projects, books, crafts, and even snack ideas to go with your unit. I love this snack for our human body unit! The great thing about building your board is you can also go through and weed out the things you decide not to do after you have collected enough for your theme and time frame.
Google Image Search – Google image searches are just as great as Pinterest, and a little less likely to suck you in for more time than you had planned 🙂
Amazon – books, toys, science kits, and more.
Netflix – There are a lot of great streaming videos if you have Netflix.
